Planning for business owners, executives and their families

Align your company, your key people, and your personal finances.

I help successful business owners make informed, coordinated financial decisions across their business and personal finances — planned as one picture, not two.

Bridging business success and personal wealth.

Most advisors handle one side of the equation. By combining business-owner planning, key employee strategies, and retirement plan consulting, I provide advice that extends well beyond traditional wealth management.

That means the retirement plan you sponsor, the people you are trying to keep, and the wealth you are building personally all get planned in the same conversation. The same integrated approach applies to the executives and high-income professionals who face these decisions from the other side of the table.

A 401(k) that earns its place

Plan consulting for sponsors who want lower friction, cleaner fiduciary footing, and employees who actually use the benefit.

For Plan Sponsors

Is your company retirement plan still the right one?

Fees drift, providers change, and fiduciary responsibility stays with you. I review plans for business owners and HR leaders and give you a straight read on where yours stands.

Every review runs the same structured evaluation, the Retirement Plan Scorecard. Five areas, graded, with the reasoning behind each mark and a short list of what to fix first.

How I plan

One plan for the business and the household.

Nothing starts with a product. It starts with what you are trying to build, who is counting on it, and how the pieces already fit together.

Planning is not a one-time event. It is an ongoing process that changes as your business and your life do.
01

Understand the business and the household

How the company actually runs, what it is worth to you, and what the household needs from it. Both sides on the table before any advice gets given.
02

Build one integrated plan

Business planning, the retirement plan, tax considerations, and personal wealth connected in a single strategy, so a decision in one area is not quietly working against another.
03

Prioritize and implement

We agree on the two or three moves that matter most this year and what can wait, then execute with the Keating team, your CPA, and your attorney working from the same plan.
04

Revisit as circumstances change

A new partner, a strong year, a health event, an offer for the company. We meet on a standing rhythm and adjust the plan to what is actually happening.

Who I work with

Primary Focus

Successful business owners with growing companies who are looking for integrated guidance on retirement plans, key employee retention, personal wealth management, and succession planning.

Also

Executives, key employees, and other high-income professionals. Different source of income, many of the same problems: concentrated compensation, deferred comp and equity decisions, tax drag, and a plan that has to hold up over decades.

About Brett

It is not just about numbers. It is about a partnership.

Brett works with business owners, executives, and their families on the financial decisions that don’t fit neatly into one category. His role is often to connect what is happening inside the business with the retirement plan, key employee decisions, tax planning, and the wealth being built outside of it. The goal is simple: understand what matters, identify the decisions that have the greatest impact, and make sure the right people are working from the same plan.

What we see, and what we do about it.

Questions

Before we ever talk about money.

The things people usually want to know first.
Do you only work with business owners?
Owners are the primary focus, but a good portion of the work is with executives, key employees, and other high-income professionals. The planning questions rhyme: concentrated compensation, tax exposure, benefit elections that are hard to reverse, and a retirement date that has to survive a few market cycles.

Thirty minutes, no preparation required. I ask about the business, the household, and what is coming in the next few years. If I am not the right fit, I will say so, and I can offer referrals to other advisors you may want to consider.

Wealth management can often stop at the personal balance sheet. For an owner, the largest asset and the biggest tax decisions usually sit inside the company. Business planning, the retirement plan, key employee strategies, and personal wealth get handled together rather than by four people who never speak.

Earlier than most people do. The options that can potentially create higher value, including internal buyers, are the ones that need lead time. Even if a sale is a decade away, the decisions you make now about structure and compensation can shape what is possible then.

Yes, and it works better when I do. Your existing advisors know history I do not. My role is often to make sure everyone is working from the same plan instead of separate pieces of one.
We are compensated through fees paid by our clients for financial planning and investment management services. Most often, these fees are based on a percentage of the assets we manage, which means our success is directly tied to yours. We believe in complete transparency and will clearly explain all fees before any recommendations are made or services begin.
